Getting married in Cyprus for Russian citizens. Cyprus is a country with simplified entry for Russian citizens. Although it is not a visa-free travel, it does not take long to get a visa as for the Schengen countries. In order to get a pro-visa to Cyprus, you just need to fill out an online application form and wait until you get it in the mail electronically. Pro visa is issued within 3 days and allows you to stay in Cyprus for 90 days in one six-month period.
Let’s look at what you need if you want to get married in Cyprus.
Yes, it is possible to get officially married on the territory of Cyprus (the Turkish-occupied part). And there are not many documents needed for this:
1.Passport
2.Internal passport
3.Birth certificate
A certificate from the Civil Registry Office stating that you can marry even if you are not currently married
For the official registration, you send us scans of all documents prepared in advance. We provide them in advance to the municipality where the ceremony will take place. When you fly to Cyprus, you need to bring these documents with you.
-Copy of your passport. It must have been valid for at least 3 months after you leave Cyprus.
-Birth certificate. Original and copy with translation into English, which is certified by a notary.
-Certificate. Original and copy translated into English, notarized and apostilled. The certificate contains the sentence: «currently not married».
Or you can get the certificate from the notary with the necessary phrases.
The third way is to obtain this certificate from the Russian Embassy in Nicosia. Such certificate does not require additional translation or certification.
The period of this certificate from 2 to 6 months, depending on the municipality.
All documents are submitted to the municipality at least 1 day before the day of the ceremony. It is possible for our couples to submit documents and register on the same day. Documents are accepted from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 10.30 am.
The ceremony itself can take place in the municipality or it can take place at any place.
You must bring your witnesses to the registration. If you do not have them, we will provide them free of charge.
If you wish to take your husband’s name, you need to tell us before the ceremony. Then the municipality will give you a document about it. It is valid for 1 month. But not all Cypriot municipalities issue such a certificate.
