Marriage registration in Israel

Marriage registration in Israel

Getting married in Israel.

To get married in Israel, you will have to go through many authorities. And if one of the spouses is not a citizen of Israel, there will be even more obstacles.

Israel is the only country in the West that has two courts: civil and religious. This creates conflicting situations.

Marriage options in Israel:

1.Rabbinic marriage — for this the newlyweds must be citizens of Israel and Jewish.
2.Church marriage — the bride and groom are both Christians.
3.Consular marriage — this is registered at the embassies of the countries whose citizens are getting married
4.Marriage abroad — if the bride and groom cannot perform a rabbinic marriage. Ideal for this: Montenegro and Cyprus and the Czech Republic

Can Russian citizens register their marriage in Israel?

In Israel, only Jews can marry, and a representative of the religion to which the newlyweds belong performs the registration. Also in Israel, mixed couples cannot marry when one of the couple is not Jewish.

In 2010, a law was passed allowing couples who do not profess one of the recognized religions, as well as non-religious couples, to marry.

To do so, one must:

-The expectant spouses have lived permanently in Israel for at least three years.

-Be over the age of 18.

-Were not related by blood.

In that case, they may petition the Marriage Registrar at the Ministry of Justice in Israel. If the courts confirm that the bride and groom do not belong to a religion recognized in Israel, then the couple will be able to register their marriage.

Where can I register my marriage quickly?
