For the official wedding registration of the citizens of the Russian Federation you need to prepare the documents:
- birth certificate, with apostille
- declaration of marital capacity (our form or official form requested by the registry office) signed before a notary (with apostille)
- a power of attorney for an attorney to be able to submit the documents for registration (with apostille)
All documents should be sent as early as possible, no later than 2-3 months before the ceremony. If you send them later, we cannot be sure that the date and time will be confirmed.
In Portugal, a certified translator will translate into Portuguese and prepare the documents for submission to the Portuguese Registry Office. We will provide you with all the services to assist you in filing the documents and accompany you through the process. It takes between 10 days and 4 weeks for the documents to be verified.
In rare cases, a personal meeting between the newlyweds and the civil registry office is scheduled. This is left to the discretion of the Portuguese party. Therefore, we advise newlyweds to fly to Lisbon in advance of the wedding date (2-3 days in advance). An english-speaking interpreter should be present at this meeting if the newlyweds do not speak Portuguese.

In your country, you have to go with the certificate to the passport office or to the FMS to have it stamped in your passport. If you changed your surname at the ceremony, then you should first go to the registry office and write an application to change your surname.
