The ancestor of the temple began operating in Karlovy Vary as a house church, although donations for its construction had been collected since the mid-19th century. After the funds were collected in full, the land that was intended for the church was given to another concession. This delayed construction for several more years. In the end, the temple was erected by the very beginning of the 20th century. It is made in Neo-Russian style and reminds of Moscow and Yaroslavl temples of the 17th century.
The exterior decoration of the church has a festive, bright appearance. At the foot of one of the walls there is a plaque dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great. Inside the church there are picturesque stained glass windows made in Tyrol, some icons were donated to the church by Czech parishioners. A special feature of this church is that in the basement there is a small library and a reception hall where you can celebrate the wedding ceremony after it is over.

The church was built in the traditional Russian style with funds donated by Russian immigrants and the Czechs themselves. Initially the church was not a parish church, but after St. Nicholas Cathedral was closed during the war years, regular services were held in the church. Today, daily services and rituals are held in the church.

Features of church wedding in the Czech Republic
In order to get married in one of the Orthodox churches in the Czech Republic, you need to make an appointment in advance with the priest who will perform the sacrament. To do this, you should arrive a few days before the ceremony or contact him by phone. This is necessary so that the priest can make sure that the lovers are serious and ready for the ceremony.
The couple must be married and have the appropriate baptismal documents. Witnesses must be present at the ceremony, but it is not necessary to bring them with you. Witnesses can be found from among the parishioners. In addition, there are no special requirements for the couple.
Before the wedding it is recommended to observe a strict fast from midnight and arrive at the temple to the beginning of the morning service to take communion and confession. At the end of the ceremony the couple is given a certificate, which is considered valid in all Orthodox countries.
