Indonesian wedding traditions

  1. It takes three years to prepare for a wedding in this country. The parents of the young people act as matchmakers. The groom has the right to marry the girl himself. To do this, he must enter into negotiations with the father of his beloved.
  2. Girls do not have the right to look for a groom on their own. They have the right to either agree to marry or refuse.
  3. After the engagement, young people can not stay together alone. Communication takes place in the presence of parents.
  4. At the wedding there must necessarily be a traditional dish — yellow rice with chicken meat. First the mother-in-law gives the dish to her daughter-in-law and then to her son.
  5. In order for a young family to have many children, they are sprinkled with water. After that, the guests go to the festive table.
  6. During the first 5 days the loving couple lives in the wife’s house. Then they move to the husband’s house.
  7. In Indonesia, all organizational issues related to the wedding are taken care of by a specially created committee. As a rule, the whole village comes to congratulate the young couple.

Russian tourists who want to get married in Java do not adhere to local traditions. They are more attracted by the magnificent sandy beaches, incredibly beautiful nature, and comfortable weather.
